Notes written by a student pilot, for student pilots.
Knotes is PPL theory study notes that follow the SACAA syllabus. The notes are written by a student pilot, not an instructor. Once a subject's notes go live, the study assistant answers only from them and shows you the passage it used. No notes are published yet. Here is who is behind it, and what it does and doesn't do.
Who's behind it
Kimberly Laura Tshetu
Kimberly is a student pilot and a co-founder of Knotes.
The honest edge is experience, not authority: the notes are written by someone who is a student pilot too. That is also why they should be checked against current regulations and with your instructor as you go.
What's in it today
Knotes follows the seven SACAA PPL theory subjects. Notes are published one subject at a time, starting with Air Law, and none are published yet. The coverage page shows the status of each subject.
What Knotes is not
- Official training. It does not replace your flight school or your instructor. Check SACAA's current exam entry requirements, including whether you need proof of theoretical knowledge instruction from an approved training organisation.
- Approved or endorsed by SACAA or by any flight school.
- Written or reviewed by a flight instructor.
- Help with the Restricted Radiotelephony certificate. That is a separate SACAA exam, and it isn't covered yet.
- Videos. Short topic videos are planned, but none are available yet.
It is a study aid. Always check against current regulations and with your instructor.
How we keep it accurate
- Once a subject's notes go live, the study assistant answers only from them and lists the sections it used, so you can read them yourself.
- When the notes don't cover something, it says so instead of guessing.
- Found a mistake? Once the notes are live, flag the answer in the study assistant, or email support@knotes.co.za. We check it and fix the notes.
